Farm Life
Welcome to Fieldgate Farm, a boutique farm located in Northern Hamilton County in Central Indiana. The 80-acre homestead was formerly a tree farm and is nestled between cornfields. As far as the eye can see are trees and lush plains, creating gorgeous sunsets and picturesque landscapes.
Kyle and Mindi McMillan shared a lifelong dream to own a farm that could be shared with the community after they discovered their love for responsible animal husbandry. Fieldgate Farm is home to a herd of Highland Cattle: a unique breed of cows originating in Scotland. Also, after falling in love with Gypsy Vanner horses, the McMillans started a small herd of these gorgeous and docile draft horses imported from the UK. Because of our of love for unique breeds of animals, a small flock of Valais Blackness sheep graze the fields.
Along for the adventure are also a handful of farm cats, a family of pastel egg-laying chickens, one very confused rooster, and the beloved Corkie the Porkie!

Gypsy Vanner Horses
Miniature Horses
Fieldgate Farm is home to two miniature horses, Skipper and Gidget. We lovingly refer to them as “the minis”. They are Amish born and raised and can pull a cart. Skipper and Gidget are like sugar and spice. Gidget is the sweetie while Skipper is spicy.
The Highlands
Fieldgate Farm is home to a herd of Highland Cattle: a unique breed of cows originating in Scotland. They’re known for their gentle disposition and lean beef, but they are also are crowd favorites for their rare beauty!
The Highlands hold a special place in our hearts. Not only are these cattle beautiful but they’re so full of personality. We have come to love them individually for who they are. Over the years, we have been lucky enough to have a couple of babies from the four original cattle.
Their pasture is situated at the front end of our property so you can’t miss them when you’re driving in.
Australian Labradoodles
Fieldgate Farm is also home to Colonial Village Labradoodles which breeds and lovingly raises Australian Labradoodles and Bernedoodle puppies. CVL utilizes the expansive property to creatively raise dogs without the use of kennels.
Our mama and papa dogs are all family pets and raised in their own family home through our guardian program. Australian Labradoodles and Bernedoodles make excellent therapy dog candidates and family pets.
Gypsy Vanner Horses
After falling in love with Gypsy Vanner horses, the McMillans started a small herd of these gorgeous and docile draft horses imported from the UK.
